Hey Mike, and Ben, heres a pic of Sindars underside

PHEve Mar 02, 2005 09:03 PM

It appears to be a good size egg, so I think she will have to lay soon.

Thanks again to you both,

Sindar, female Henkeli

neato. sucks that theres only one in there! when i noticed the 2 in my female, they were a bit further posterior, almost like above the cradle of her pelvic girdle. i would imagine you might slowly see it get lower, if she hangs around in the right position for you to see.

Immediately (a day, or two MAX) before clutching my fem. refuses food and will also go into shed. When she drops slugs, however, she WON'T shed, but will still go off feed.

me female, who is normally very calm, became very easily bothered, and for the first time hissed and opened her mouth at me a day or two before she laid. dont know if this increased irritability is normal for females about to lay.

one if it is fertile. I was so frustrated when I found a nice looking egg buried and cracked awhile back. I just did not know she had layed yet.

This time I want to be able to find it as quick as possible.

Hey why would she just have one egg in there. Don't they usually have two?

That's awesome Eve! Hope to see you incubating it soon. I've had my female sikorae lay one egg at a time, usually two but I have seen one.

About time there was some ACTION in that tank, LOL

Gee she has 2 handsome guys in there with her, you would think ONE of them would give her some good GECKO LOVIN

Ha, I'll let ya know if it is fertile when she lays.

Thanks everybody for your thoughts!

I dont think thats an egg. Its in the wrong area, shaped like an internal organ, not round or bilateral, way too close to the skin, strangely colored etc.

Hate to rain on your parade, but the only way to tell for sure would be to get a pic like that, right side up.

I dont think its an egg though.. sorry. Thats not to say she isnt carrying eggs though.

Sindar looked when she had 2 eggs awhile ago. It does appear to be higher up, I agree.
But seems to me it has grown and is quite noticable, as I never have seen an organ white and round there before. Shes always hanging on the glass.

YOU, have the experience from keeping and breeding, So I will have to start observing her stomach area more closely and become familiar with whats what, and where,

It just seemed to appear recently , and I have been watching it. seemed to become larger in the past week. It sure appeared like an egg to me

Heres another, (not real great) shot that was taken a few days ago , daytime of her sleeping. There are a few sun glared areas but you can see the spot.

Thanks Leah,

Sindar

Hey Eve, do you weigh your henks regularly? I don't weigh my geckos regularly...but I definately am able to monitor their eating and size on a daily basis. Just wondering, because it sounds like thats another way to tell when your females are carrying.

but visually she has been more full looking, that was another reason I figured egg.

Plus the fact 2 weeks ago I saw her down in the moss with her back end buried for away. I figured she was laying then, but had not seen this white area then.
Anyway she never layed anything, she just got up and went to a branch and slept.

I searched the moss where she was, nothing. Shes a STRANGE one I never know what the heck shes doing .

In Dec she layed 1 infertile egg on a branch. And nothing since.
