Jungle Stripe Leopards

DavidKendrick Mar 02, 2005 09:57 PM

I got this female last year, and bred her to a patternless male, She laid 2 eggs and one came out normal and the other came out jungle striped just like her mother looked like as a baby. Here is mom and offspring, I was wondering if anyone had heard of a Co-Dom Jungle Trait? Is there any Co-Dominant traits in leopards? Let me know what you think.

nice, but the baby is not a jungle, or a stripe, it would have to have broken tail bands, or a stripe running down the tail to be considered a jungle/stripe, vant see the big ones tail..but i'm guessing its banded also?

anyway..the Giant is co-dominant, jungle and stripe if i am not mistakem are selectivley bred traits, but if you bred a non jungle to a jungle and you got a jungle baby, it is co-dom, same for stripe

All I know is The mother had a stripe down her back, as a baby, and When we bred her to a patternless male, she had 2 eggs, both hatched, and one was normally banded, and the other had the same style stripe running down his back. Here is a pic of the 2 babies only days after they hatched. I was told that the mother was a jungle stripe. When I saw the baby I thought maybe it was a co-dom trait. I guess I will have to keep breeding her and her babies to see if I keep getting abberant babies. The new copy of "The leopard gecko in captivity" by robbie hamper shows a pic of what they call an open stripe. And they also show a pic of what they call Jungle and both have banded tails??? Its the newest book out on Leopards..So???

Your male patternless could be het for jungle. I'm pretty sure this is the case with my male patternless.

There are also a lot of instances where jungle traits don't tend to behave as simple dominant / recessives. I've produced a fair number of abberent babies (irregular body banding, normal tail banding)and even one jungle from breeding some of my jungle females to normal males with no jungle genes.

If the tail is banded, it is NOT a jungle..... You could not even consider that a stripe either..... That looks like a reduced pattern at best..... Nice looking leos though.... None of my babies are ever born with regular banding but the are not jungles..... The tail says it all.....
