Dumsnballs,
...Your question has me thinking that perhaps you have a new little male Brazilian Rainbow Boa and that maybe you are just learning about BRBs. Your kingsnake.com sign-in name has me guessing that you may have Ball Pythons and Dumerils Boas? I am hoping that you are not keeping a new BRB like you would keep a Dum or a BP. BRBs are very sensitive to cage temperature and humidity. If you keep a little one as hot or dry as a BP or Dum it will quickly dehydrate and die. Adult male BRBs are usually between 5.5 and 6.25 feet in length. Read through the forum here, there are lots of posts about caging for BRBs. Some of us keep our BRBs in simple cages and some keep them in larger naturalistic vivaria. There are some great PICs further down in the posts of some of the naturalistic ones. I will post a PIC of one of my simple cages when I get a little time.

Dumsnballs,
...This is one of my Vision cages setup for BRBs. Inverted clay flowerpot has the small drain hole enlarged so snakes can enter through it. This type top entry hide seems ideal for Rainbow Boas. When I clean cages I often soak the flowerpot in the bathtub and it absorbs lots of weater which keeps the microclimate inside the flowerpot extremely humid for several days. Jumbo size water bowl. Newspaper substrate which is often damp but dry in this PIC because it has just been replaced. Vision cages have large ventilation screen across the top in back and another screen in the heating dome that comes down from the top. Both screens are completely covered with duct tape to retain moisture inside the cage. Cage is heated with proportional thermostatically controlled 11 inch flexwatt heattape cut 12 inches long under the end of the cage where the hide and waterbowl are. If warm spot on the floor is too warm it will force the snakes out of the hide and they will try to hide under newspaper at cooler end of the cage. I keep two medium to medium large females in each of these cages. The cage is a 328 which is 3 feet long. Four foot long would be better for adult BRBs. My largest BRBs are in 4 foot long old style melamine box cages.
