.....does anyone have any good tips, as far as getting their mouths open without causing too much stress or pain? thanks.

Depends on what your forcing if its baby food or perlite use a serine(needles obviously) and rest the bottom part on the lower lip and move up and down getting it open i usualy stick the syringe liek 1/2 inch in then squirt the food. If your doing this by hadn get a towel because they get quite squirmy, i coaz his mouth open with my thumb on the lowwer left side of the mouth and my pointer finger on the right side i move them up and down and hes usualy open with no trouble

Why are you force feeding? What is the problem?

babyfood with a seringe (sp?)

....he's on a hunger strike and getting anorexic, the Vet gave him a shot of B12 & antibiotics cuz the bacteria growth has spread more than normal in his intenstine

.....he's almost 6mos. old & when weighed yesterday, he only weighed in @ 34grms. =o(

If you have to force feed, then I would recommend only using baby food. It is very easy to feed and digest.
