What Uromastyx is this?

Frito_Bandito Jul 08, 2003 10:39 AM

I bought a Uromastyx about a year ago at a local pet store. The sign said it was a Mali Uromastyx, but upon looking at pictures of other breeds of Urmastyx my suspicions have began to peek. If you can send me and IM name or an email I will be happy to send a picture of it.

Can you post it on here?
How old is your uro?
Mine is almost 10 months now and is a Mali. Maybe this pic can help...

that is exactly what mine looks like. He is a little over a year, and I believe they live around 50 yrs don't they? If so he will be a life long friend .

50 years? good golly gracious where did you hear that???? more like 15. but i've received a lot of conflicting estimates to uro lifespans, the general consensus seems to be 15 years.

here is his pic its not a good one cuz he decided to investigate my wallet. He is by far the best reptile I have ever owned but thats out of one Ball Python and one Iguana. Not to mention he is the most docile animal I have ever had. He has never tail whipped, bitten, or scratched me.

Darling. Pretty sure it's a mali. Quinn looks a lot like that when she is cold (does he lighten up a bit when he warms up?). I'm glad you are enjoying your uro.

i have found that malis have probably the widest range of colorations and patterns that i have ever seen. i have 3, and none of them look even remotely alike. the male is huge, dark black with bright green back that is almost ocellated looking. i have an olive/brown freckled female. my other female is brownish/gray, but her back is patterned very similarly to other species (almost leopard-print looking) with greens, yellows, and even a bit of blue. post a picture :O)
