Big ol MBK female

I realize this is not the best pic....and she is opaque[but how much does that matter on black snakes?] but you can get an idea of how huge she is.Check out that thick neck on her. Just toying with my new camera, better pics soon to come. Tom Stevens

She's heafty!

Whats her age, length, weight?

She will be 6 this summer. She is a little over 4 foot[i think] and I don't have her weight handy....but she is quite a handful. Docile snake, eats like a pig and produces a lot of eggs. I keep her in a Boaphile cage and she is really an impressive display animal. Tom Stevens

Wow. She looks great. How many eggs do the MBK produce in a normal clutch? Do the hatchlings eat readily? I have a wonderful 2-3yr old male that I picked up at a reptile show last year and I have a friend who has a beautiful female that should be large/old enough next year. Of all the wonderful snakes that I have the neighborhood children all ask to hold the "black" one. He seems to give them the most satisfaction to hold, I guess because he looks so "scary" and black. He is a dollbaby and quite trustworthy.

If I remember correctly she laid 16 for the first clutch and 12 for the second last year, and that was the most she ever produced in one season. Amazingly....she seemed to want to breed again and could have easily laid a 3rd clutch but that would've put her in brumation later than normal so I let it be. I think the first clutch she ever laid was 9 eggs, that was when she was 2. MBKs were the second type of snake I ever produced and of all the colorful stuff I display at shows, people always pick that Back King up first. I always recomend them for people wanting an easy snake to work with and breed. I think she is already opaque so if that's the case she will be breeding again in no time. Tom Stevens
