heebyjeebies Mar 03, 2005 10:42 PM

Now I heard Nelson's make great "first snakes"....I just have a couple questions...Today I got this beautiful one, still just a baby too...How big do nelson's usually get? my mom is frightened by large snakes, and i try to tell her that its not gonna get nowhere near the size shes afraid of, just to reassure her, i decided to ask u smart people lol.. Also...when can i start handling it on a regular basis, im getting antsy ALREADY haha...and oneeeee last question, is Jade an ok name? (im not very creative) haha..Thanks!!!

Adult Nelsoni grow to about 36-48 inches...

your mom has nothing to worry about Nelsoni are great snakes.

you can start handling your new snake whenever you wanted to, I suggest handling as often as you can (they claim down faster this way), just not right after a meal, they regurgitate.

Jade is an interesting name... but here are a few suggestions:

Cinnamon
Peaches
Dream
Passion
Isis
Candy
Cherry
(when I think of jade I think of a greenish snake)

Pepper (one of my females)

Goodluck with your new snake.

Doesn't sound like a Nelson's milk Snake.

Are you able to take and post pix? I think a pic would better describe the snake in question

Beware of the ignorant pet shop owner/employee, they'd sell you a mouse and try to convince you it's a cat...

Here a link to a site with various kings and milks (i think they're all there) hopefully this helps you identify your snake.
