"Survivor Palau" join up and you get to kill sea kraits!!!!

lateralis Mar 03, 2005 10:48 PM

and then you can just throw their headless bodies into the sea to chum up sharks that you "THINK" you might be able to spear with that pointy piece of wood.
These shows are a joke, I wonder who they paid so that they could kill the snakes. Are Sea Kraits listed on CITES?? I wonder if the nitwit who whacked the heads off the snakes had a take permit?
WHAT A JOKE< I WISH THE POOR SNAKES HAD BITTEN THEM ALL IN THEIR SLEEP.

I admit..i watch the show every week. I will not watch it after what i saw this week. I honestly felt sick to my stomach after seeing them torture those poor snakes. Atleast they could have ate the meat, but NO...I wish they would have ate the snakes and somehow the toxic venom would have killed the people. Something needs to be done...who could we contact?

Although I'm a fan of reptiles just as everyone else here is, what needs to be done? I doubt this happens regularly. As for laws, only local laws apply as they didn't transport anything; and what backward island are they on this season?

While I don't watch reality shows, and am not singling you out for anything, the fact that it happened once is too often, IMO.

I didn't watch the show either, but I definatly would be cheering on for a snake bite.
I'm sure this same post appears on arachnid forums everytime a tarantula is killed. Or a fish ect...
It's just another form of food/bait in my opinion and nothing to get in arms about. That being said, I am assuming these snakes are common and the 5 or so that were killed aren't a significant number of the population.

kingcobrafan Mar 05, 2005 09:09 AM

I imagine it didn't affect the local population at all. If the people involved were actually stranded on "Island X", and doing what they needed to do to survive, I wouldn't give it a second thought. I have a problem with it being done in the name of cheap entertainment, though.

Funny you would say that, I was thinking the same thing. too bad one of them did not get bit, but sea kraits dont bite very often that is the unfortunate thing.

not that they are treating them like we treat our own, but no more throwing non water snakes in water and such, maybe we need to do something here!

Lets do it!! I personally dont like the way they pick on the lesser creatures on these shows. Enough is enough, make your voice heard! I would love to get people here organized, Im not sure how to get an electronic petition going but will gladly sign one if someone else knows how. IF WE ALL BAND TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE GOOD THINGS HAPPEN! AND PROTECT OURSELVES FROM ARCANE LAWS.
