Do you use canned foods

hspadix Mar 04, 2005 02:43 AM

Hi, I was wondering if any of you use the read-made leopard gecko food sold in cans http://www.zoomed.com/html/gecko_foods.php). Are they readily-accepted by your geckos? Can you feed them by itself or do you have to mix it with the mealworms? And how often do you use it? Thanks very much,

Although I have had some luck getting my beardies to eat canned food, i have as of now not been able to entice any leo's to eat it. Maybe someone else has had better results....

I can't get my leos to eat any of the store boughten food. However, my one leo loves to eat homemade mango babyfood. I haven't tried to feed anything besides crickets and mealies to my newest gecko though. My iguana would never eat the canned food, but he did eat the iguana pellet type food when i sprinkled it on top of his regular food. I think you have to start feeding that kind of stuff to the animal really early in its life.

well before i bought my leos i had the setup redy and had ught a leopard gecko starter kit.... well it had the canned crikets and it had the lil tiny flys in a jar.. well it happend that i rescued 2 geckos that i dont think would have made it 48 hours longer... well i had no food and except for the canned crckets i put a few on a dish with some flys sprinkled on em..,. well i saw one gecko eat the krik.... well after he finally ate he didnt like them anymore after i gave him some live ones...

i even tryed the jitterbug... which is a plate that so pusably moves the food to make it look alive... well first off the geckos are scared of this motor in there cage and wont get close to it... and if they did dare to go up to it the thing dosent even move the food all that well.............

Leos don't like to eat canned food. They need to be fed either mealworms or crickets. They need the nutrition from the live food that they can't get from the dead.
