Mali drinking water from a wet sponge!

Flavia Guimaraes Mar 04, 2005 02:47 AM

Yesterday i put the wet sponge bed inside my uro's cage again and for the first time i saw her drinking water from the sponge! That is curious because i keep a bowl of water inside her cage and she rarely drinks from it. A few weeks ago i saw her drinking water from the water bowl but normally she just walks on the water bowl.

Well yesterday when she saw the wet sponge she ran to it!She pressed her head against the wet sponge, closed her eyes and drank a lot!

Those are interesting setups for your malis. There don't appear to be any hides available for them. It is important to give them a place to hide where they can feel some preasure against their backs (according to research). Also wondering what kind of basking temps you have for them. They need at least 105 deg. F to properly digest their food. It doesn't appear as though you have a basking light. Please read the following link below for a complete care sheet on uromastyx.

Good luck,

Craig

You can run, but you can't hide... unless you're a uro

i think those are her sunshine cages, they don't live in them all the time.

Ah, that's good. Can't imagine they'd last long in cages like that, if that was their only home.
