Head scale lost during shed

TomChambers Jul 08, 2003 11:32 AM

Is there anything I should do?? ie bacitracin, benidine
will it get infected or any other problems???
heres a photo sorry about the quality I was in a rush late for work.
Thanks for any replies
TomChambers
by the way, It was a one piece shed and when I unrolled it, the scale was imbedded in the shed so I know it wasn't an injury.

I would keep a little neosporin on it.

Make sure the neosporin does NOT have painkiller or pain relief in it.

Just wondering why is the pain relief a no no? I have a little snake my boyfrined brought home from the wild, no clue yet on type, (look a few messages up for story and pix) but he is missing part of his tail and all I have is pain relief stuff. Would peroxide work? is it harmful to them? Thanks!

I would use peroxide in a 50/50 mix with water. Im not sure about the pain relief stuff, but everyone that ive ever talked to about it, stress that i shouldn't use it.

This sometimes happens. I have one in particular that's a repeat. I don't do anything and they heal just fine.

...it's not infected so don't worry. Sometimes you get defects in scales and these things happen. So now you have a SLIGHTLY imperfect snake. My original BP scraped some scales off the top of its head on her first shed and she lived 25 years! Scott J. Michaels DVM
