clee4560 Jul 08, 2003 12:13 PM

seem's not to many cteno keepers are around here. and even fewer pics. well i to just moved from a apt to a town house a step in the right direction, at least i have a basement now bad news is daisy and monte's cage wont fit down the stairs. time to start a new one maybe a multie cage wall unit? twist is turning into a real charmer before is foot turned back and when he had a hard time catching crickets i would put him in his flower pot base hide spot and put the dusted crickets one at a time in the front of the opening and he would grab them as they went in. but now he's so funny that as soon as he see's me shake the cricket bag he'll run into his hide and wait but as soon as a cricket hits the paper he runs out after it and runs back to the hide to wait for another. he also has put some size on but still neon green. i hate all digital cameras (i just can't win). but i need to get pics while he is still small. just wanted to say hi. talk to ya chris

I have a cteno. similis. Slow grower. It looks bigger this summer. I will try to post pics soon. I live in Central Florida, so I keep it in an outdoor cage during the warmer months. I want to go to Miami to take pictures of the wild ones.

I'm currently keeping 2 similis, one for 5 years, the other a WC Florida animal that I've had for a couple of months. I believe I have a female conspicuosa coming from Mark in the near future, also.
CeCe, the 5 year old female, is a constant source of entertainment. She freeroams my basement where most of the rescues and the monitors are housed. She gets fed a rodent a couple of times a month while I'm feeding the carnivores. She has learned to recognize the clicking sound of the hemostats and will follow me around the basement until she gets her treat. She is afraid of nothing and I've caught her chasing a 4 foot Nile monitor that had escaped it's enclosure!! She is not tame but will tolerate a stroke on her back occasionally. Even so, I can't imagine her not being here.

I have a spiny tail and pics but I don't know how to post the pics. Also A question can a full grown spiny tail slip thru a chain link fence?

JohnStyner Jul 09, 2003 11:37 AM

my similis female is definatly full grown: 5 years old and 29.5 inches long TL. She probably would just squeeze through but a full grown male probably wont.
