Question for the day. How did you decide on a screen name?

CaptainHook2 Mar 05, 2005 07:16 AM

I am really interested in IntempestaNox! Just bored and have always wondered. As for me, I was struggling on a name for my snake for a year. At one point I thought of calling him Captain Hook. That was right around the time I got on Kingsnake. My first try at my screen name didn't work so when I tried again it said the name was already taken so I added a 2. CaptainHook2. I finally stuck with the name "Moses" for my snake because I saw him stretched out and he reminded me of Moses staff. Funny thing though, I think he may be a she. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Actually, mine has nothing to do with reptiles. Razordance is the name of a Richard Thompson song. I love the song, it sounds cool, and I never have to tack numbers on the end because someone else has it. I use it for everything online.

Mine is a CB handle I've had for ohhhhhhhhhhhhh 25 years or so. Am I agin' myself yet? I've actually considered changin' it since coming in here. Just doesn't seem to fit.

radwigs Mar 05, 2005 09:22 AM

My screen name is simply my initials RAD and what I do for a living; wigs. I am a wig master in theatre which means I build and style wigs for theatrical productions. Doesn't have anything to do with reptiles but it works pretty well everywhere and I don't really worry about anyone else having it all ready.

I've worked for carnivals and circuses and mine was really the only name I could think of that no one else had. A few years ago though I also used it as my CB handle when we would be taking the show to a new town.

My I htink is pretty obvious. I have always felt that the reticulating python is the creme de la creme of the snake world. no disrespect intended toward the burms or the burm owners. I first love is and will alsways be burms but there is somethign about the sheer impressiveness of a retic. Todd

Ummm...can you tell what my favorite snake it by my screen name?
Ok...I'm not a boy...not at 47 anyway.
I needed something quick, when registering, that was the first thing that popped into my head.
Sounded better than RainbowBoy, or say, DumBoy.
And the real name...Bob...is just not exciting.lol

Drosera Mar 05, 2005 12:14 PM

Lovely question! Well, I grow carnivorous plants. And Drosera is the name of a genus of pretty little bloodthirsty plants called sundews, some of my personal favorites. It's also easy to pronounce, easy to spell, is never taken, and sounds feminine.
Needless to say, I'm pleased with myself.

Well, mine is obvious. It is my name. Hey Drosera I knew that seemed familiar. I used to keep carnivorous plants. Especially sundews.

Antegy Mar 05, 2005 01:09 PM

Mine has nothing to do with my name, but rather is a word I created some time ago. I also use it as the name of my domain at www.antegy.com (please, feel free to visit there and look around - it's mostly centered around my photography efforts).

My name is actually Mark - and even though I try to be sure to sign all my posts with my real name I still get replies that are addressed to "Antegy"! Oh well, I guess being referred to by my screenname isn't so bad - it just sounds weird while I'm reading posts that are addressed to me.

- "Mark"

P.S.
A good follow up to this thread might be for everyone to post a picture of themselves - perhaps with your burm (or other pet), maybe next to your cage setup, etc.. Anyone care to start that thread?

EGUS3487 Mar 05, 2005 01:54 PM

"Egus" was the name of my first snake, a red tail
and the 3487 is the #'s on the phone keypad if u wanted to type Egus on it

Savvgawd Mar 05, 2005 05:46 PM

Everyone thinks that my name is acually Sawgawd rather than SavVgawd. The reason I chose that name is becuase I have a big Savannah monitor named GAWD rather than God, kinda stayed away from taking the big mans name. Get the idea?haha

Some years ago, Canon introduced a prototype camera with a "retro-futuristic" design at one of the European camera expos (it looked like a white thermos with the flash stowed in the cap). They called the prototype the "Photoboy Jet", but ultimately marketed the camera as the "Futura" (and gave it ahn aluminium finish instead of the prototype's white finish). Personally, I liked the name and thought Canon wussed out.
