Unshed skin on her legs.

lostkauze Mar 05, 2005 10:20 AM

I've been with my geckoes for almost 5 years now, and this has been the first time I've seen a bad shed with full old skin left on the entire back legs.

I'm not too sure how to get rid of it. I've misted her daily, gave her warm waterbaths, q-tips, the usual. But 100% of the skin is still on her legs, and I, nor she seems able to get it off...

I'm worried about constricting the blood flow, and the whole toe deal... anyone got suggestions?

Michael

it seems you have tried almost everything to fix this problem. when my 3 geckos have shedding problems, i let them soak in a lukewarm bath, and then afterwards, i *gently* rub the affected foot or lumb between my fingers to help loosen the skin. try this everyday. if the condition doesnt clear up, or the animal's walking starts to become affected, call a veterinarian immediately.

Vet check was next on my agenda. However, she did get better, and the problem is pretty much cleared, just a little left on the toes. I'm glad she was able to fix herself.

try a nice warm soak/steam bath followed by a few drops of mineral oil. Works great!
