More Mojave Herping

HighDesertHerper Mar 05, 2005 01:19 PM

Here's a few more I was able to find before the rain came yesterday. I found many Zebra-tails and a total of 9 Horned Lizards.
The first is a shot of where I work.

Awesome pics man.

Was it very cold out, to allow for a good pic of the Callisaurus? Or do you know a good trick to get up close without scaring them. Excellent platyrhinos also. heh. Are the mountains in the background of the wash anywhere near Apple Valley? Thanks man. Oh yeah, already finding Chuckwallas out and about. Four were found just yesterday before it started to rain again.

Talk to you soon,
-Phil

Although I live in and do a lot of herping in Apple Valley, this photo is a good 100 miles away. It was about 75* and the lizards were "sunned up" enough to be able to sprint across the desert without skipping a beat. And they did!
Thanks for looking.
