What size cage?

HopeMarie Mar 05, 2005 07:06 PM

I will soon be purchasing a Bearded Dragon hopefully from the pet store. The one they have is almost an adult maybe? It is bigger than a juvenille. What size tank is best? I want a tank that will still be big enough for it once it reaches full adult. Also, if i were to get 2, what size tank would i need?

I believe 75g is the general concensus for an adult. I'm not sure for two, but I know you'll get a lot of discouragement against it due to fighting an/or constant breeding stressing out the female.

The only person I know with two beardies together raised them together and got lucky in that they were both females. They are quite happy together, but the impression I get from this board is that's not the norm.

Agreed

two dragons shouldn't be kept i nthe same tank if for no other reason than one will act as a dominant and this can lead to poor health (nutritionally) in the submissive... two males most of the time will fight and injure each other, male and female pairing will lead to excessive breeding, and two females can on the rare occasion be kept together so long as there is no conflict but adequate basking spots must be provided for each animal along while making sure you still maintain the proper temperature gradients... this requires a lrger tank probably at least a 90 gal.

but to be safe it isn't really recommende to keep two together unless you have a lot of experience with dragons

Hope this helps

Derek
