Feeding/shedding

LAF77 Mar 05, 2005 11:38 PM

My corn's eyes have become a milky blue which is supposed to indicate he is supposed take his first shed. Can I feed him before the shed or should I wait? How long after the shed is he ready to eat?

THanks

Depends on the individual Corn. Some will refuse food right through the blue and shedding phases, some will eat at any time, regardless. One of mine recently shed the head part, ate a mouse, then shed the rest. No stopping that one!

Try offering the usual food. If not interested, leave it a week and try again. Just keep offering food until he eats - you'll soon learn what your prefers.

When a snake starts to shed its skin. Its skin (color) will appear duller than usual. Then its eyes will become clouded over. This will take a week to ten days. Then the snake will clear up and in a couple more days the snake will shed its old skin. If you notice your snake will become inactive during this time and I believe it should not be fed until the shedding process is complete. The snake also should not be handled during this time.
