I have 3 RES---2 females in a 100 gallon tank and a male in a 50 (cannot keep them together because he is too agressive). Both tanks are 2/3 full with basking platforms.
The females seem content to bask and hang out, and have never tried to escape, although they easily could by climbing over the tank top edge from the platform, and I've had this set up over a year.
The male's successful escape exploits are worthy of a scene in "Finding Nemo," and I have had to make his tank very escape-proof with bariers on top. In general, he seems a lot more hyper-active than the females. Is this typical?
