Odd behavoir with two bps

cee4 Mar 06, 2005 09:55 AM

I have a male bp who is 3yrs old and 3'7 and I also have a female who is about 2 and a half years old and 3'3..Anyway I put them in the same cage for a few weeks because we are remodeling and I havent got the other enclosure finished..So they are in a 4ft vision cage with 6 hides...This is the wierd behavour. My female is chasing the male around. If my male goes to a hide she has to follow him..she has always been a very active snake while my male is very reclusive. But shouldnt the male be bothering the female instead of the other way round..My male finally found a little 1 inch ledge above the enclosure door and wedged himself up there and the female is going nuts trying to get up there with him. This has been going on for about a week now..Im separating them today, but I was just wondering if this is normal..

LOL, sounds like the feminist movement has hit the reptile world. She's tryin' to convince him that she's the gal for him. Although it is odd behavior, I suppose it's possible. Is she trying to hurt him or is she just followin' him around? Maybe it's puppy love!

Are you absolutely sure that the female is actually a female and not a male? Get both of them probed again, just to be sure.

I would bet that you have two males in the same cage. Definately re-sex them. The smaller one is definately stressing out! It's like going to jail and finding out your room mate is named Bubba!

"It's like going to jail and finding out your room mate is named Bubba!"

LMAO...

Now is that from personal experience?
