Pastel anery????

mdc Mar 06, 2005 12:30 PM

I just wanted to get some opinions on this girl. To me, she is the perfect definition of a pastel. She definately has an overall reduction of black. My question for all of you is, would you consider her a pastel if she doesn't come from a proven line of pastels?
Thanks in advance for any opinions.

Matt

Oh, and credit for the pick goes to Mike from MnR reptiles. Thanks Mike, and I can't wait to see her in person.

I think she is for sure! That is a PERFECT example of a pastel anery!

I would call her a pastel for sure. It is my belief (I think it to be fact) that there are many lines of pastels out there. Some starter lines.......Others getting close to "perfection". The thing is (and why the pastel label is so confusing) some will be selling animals as pastels.....Which are not even close IMHO. Others will be selling nice normals that blow away some of the nicest pastels. I really think there are "grades" of pastels. It really is a buyer beware market. Pastels are a line bred trait. So, again my opinion, if you buy two nice boas and breed them. You are likely to have a pastel baby in there. You raise that baby up........And keep on doing the same thing. This type of breeding brings about a selective look. Thus producing cleaner animals with an overall reduction of black.
I'm taking the long way home to answer your question. LOL!
My assumption is that the baby you bought was a killer one out of the litter. It is far past looking like a "starter" pastel. That animal is almost perfection. I won't say it's perfect because it's not mine. LOL!
I would say that even though it is not from a proven line. You have an awesome looking pastel anery. And, if it's not from a proven line........It is now your line that you can build on.
Hope I didn't muddy the water. Too little sleep last night.

I told you I was about to call Mike up and my boss walked into my office and started a meaningless conversation....I mean come on I had snake business to take care of. He doesn't really expect me to work while I'm at work. LOL. While he was talking your email popped up saying you just got it. Damn Boss.

Take care and EXECELLENT SCORE!!! I'm shocked Mike sold it. I would hate to see what he is holding back.

you need to get your priorities straight. First snakes, then work. Come on man, get with it, lol.

Actually, I love anerys, but they do not fit into ANY projects at the moment.
I was thinking of crossing the leopard boa male with an anery to get anery leaoprds, and see what they come out like, but I am not sure yet......that would be a stepping stone for snow leopards......
I have some neat stuff hidden away, some right under your nose!!!
I am paranoid about keeping stuff and having someone steal it, so I struck up quite a few deals with other breeders, well known and not, for them to house and make projects with.

How did you bring yourself to give this girl up? I was looking at the pic again, and I honestly can't find one black fleck. Maybe they are on the other side and you just took a pic of her good side, lol. I have never even seen a normal that clean. Thanks again, and I can't wait to see her in person.
