These past few days in the Mojave of SoCal have been great for herps of all types. But I was really excited to have found not just one, but 9 Horned Lizards in a period of two hours between 11am and 1pm.

Very nice picture. We don't have a lot of good shots of this specie, would you give us permission to use this shot for our web-site, very robust looking animal.... If yes, please e-mail me back your name and approximate location and any other data and we will include this under the Phrynosoma.com site. Cheers!!

And how many did you keep?

I usually don't take Horned lizards as they are usually in short supply. I did however keep a male and female from the area where I found so many. The government agency I work for has several sites that we operate in and around the desert of Southern Cal. According to senior staff members, this site has been a hotbed of horned lizard activity for at least 35 years that they are aware of. I find it very interesting to be employed by this agency. One site is literally infested with Leopard lizards while yet another is over-run by Desert Iguanas. Now this site is crawling with Horned Lizards. I love having access to these areas and having the ability to photograph these animals in their natural environment.
Thanks for looking.

Hi, Great pics. I'm looking for areas to take pics of reps in natural environments, for educational purposes. I tried emailing you b4, but it bounced back. Can u email me at repscue@yahoo.com, so that I can explain further. Thanks, Rick
