Medical problem

Hi,

Long time since I've logged in. Got a problem with my 9 year old collared lizard gal, Wenger. I'll be taking her to the vet next week, but I was hoping for some expertise here too.

Wenger is fine. I thought. Very active. Munching crickets, getting sun, sometimes a soft worm...no more pinkies. She seems uninterested in those now, too much work for her maybe.

Anyhow...this morning...out of the blue, she has a bright red (as in blood red) spot on her chin (no no no, it's not brumation coloration; I'm not that out of it). What worries me is that this happened with her hubby. He kept getting these red areas, then they would turn brown and hard, like a scab, but internal not external. He never slowed down;never ceased eating and pooping. He just died one day.

This time I'm going to the vet right away. But I'm wondering if anyone has had this experience and knows what might be g oing on.

Thanks,

Linda

infection, the Vet, sounds like a GOOD idea. Alot of times with fungal or bacterial, they can get skin problems, they can also turn into abcesses.

Maybe shes bleeding internally, under the skin.
Anyway if it is that, she would need antibiotics and her tank cleaned and disinfected.

I hope you find out what it is and let us all know. She certainly is a pretty lil girl. Sorry to hear about her husband. :0(

Wow... I hope Wenger gets better! I am struggling with my guy right now actually. Nine years though... that is amazing. That is the longest age I have heard for a Collared.

What specific kind of Collared is Wenger? Dexter looks just like him... and I have never know the specific kind Dexter is.
