Today, my 20 inch (About, I haven't measured it yet) water monitor managed to get a hold of me. I've only had him for a few days and up until today, he had never attempted to bite. Just hiss and the occasional defecating.

Being the typical idiot male, I figured "Hey, I've been bit by bigger things. What's a little 20 inch monitor?" Big mistake.

I've been bitten by a 3 foot Tegu who insisted my finger was edible. I've been tagged in the face and neck by a 5 foot yellow Anaconda, and I've been bit (through gloves in this case) by full grown iguanas.

None of those compared to this little 20 inch monitor (I'm talking full length, not STV. It's almost 3/4ths tail!).

It almost had me in tears. Their teeth really are knife-like. He decided to give my finger a good shake and the teeth managed to give me a good long cut on my finger.

I haven't bleed that much in a long time. I certainly learned my lesson.
