chameleon habitat change

small_town36 Mar 07, 2005 07:49 AM

I recently squared off and area in my room so i could hang fine and set up plants so that my cham can be uncaged. But now that i got him living like this he hasnt been eating. I think it is just b/c he is taking time to get used to his new setup. But I am gettin concerned how long can a chameleon go without wanting to eat. I put the jar of worms and crickets in his line of sight but he doesnt even want to eat them like he normally does. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

A cham that is healty and good body condition can go a week without eatimg much at all. Make sure he's drinking. He's preoccupied with his new space, and may be intimidated by it at first. Also may not recognize where to find the food.

In addition to what Carlton said, how warm is your chameleon when
he's going around on these vines and plants? Was his cage warmer?
If he's not warm enough he may not eat.

Also, is he accustomed to eating from a feeding cup? Was he eating from a feeding cup in his past cage because if you have just started this then he will be use to eating free roaming insects and having to hunt for them and most will not eat from a cup unless they were started with this routine from the beginning.
