Cage Requirements

snakester01 Jul 08, 2003 02:06 PM

Can someone give me a general idea of what the cage requirements for a JCP are. Like the size of the cage, substrate, temperature/humidity, climbing matererial, etc. Or a good caresheet or care site.

with Regards

the requirements for keeping them alive are basic. you just go to home depot, buy a large rubbermaid, heat it somehow. feed it once a week or even less if you want or more too. and give it water, you clean that once a week.

however, is it really about minimum requirements?

temps: 78-90F
humidity: 45-70%
substrate: aspen, cypress, DCLs, paper towels
cage: plastic enclosure or Vision type setup
cage sizes: hatchling-20"X10"X10"10 gallon); juvi-30"X16"X16"20-25 gallon); adult-3'X2'X2' or 4'X2'X2'
plastic hides, plastic waterbowl, and sand blasted grapevine for furniture

These are my specs, not the law necessarily. Anthony Caponetta wrote a nice caresheet. I'm sure you can find it with a quick search. Good luck.

Those sad faces were not intended. Anthony Caponetto is the correct spelling. And the link is http://reptiles.drivennewmedia.com/carpet_python_care.htm
