Has anyone seen this?

MR_ANACONDA28 Mar 07, 2005 12:45 PM

A few days ago I went into my snake room to do a poop and water check. When I was in my Yellows cage I scared my Green, he flattend out like he was a Hognose. It was cool, he stayed like that for quit some time. I didnt dare stick my arm into his cage at that time in fear that he would try to rip it off. When he flattend out he was no more then a inch tall but he was at least three inches wide. I know this is a scare tactic to make him look bigger to avoid being eatten. I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this in there anacondas?

Eric,
Not uncommon at all to see this with a startled anaconda; standard defensive posture.

` Yup, not uncommon. The adults who become very tame seem to lose this behavior.
` I've also had them puff up at me, and each other.
` Here's a pic of two males, deciding who's going to get the girl. They have puffed up their throats for the pushing match.
