Pixie frog heating

solfugid Mar 07, 2005 05:16 PM

I just got a very healthy baby African bull frog and I have him in a ten gallon tank. My question is, I keep him in a small closet that must be close to if not 80 degrees in the closet. I have a 60 watt heat lamp over one side of his tank for heating and he keeps borrowing into the substrate comepletely, nothing is exposed. What I was wondering is if the light could be to hot and his cage to warm and he may be trying to escape from the heat, or if he is just nervous since I just got him. He eats any thing that moves and is a very healthy acting frog. Do you guys think it would be best if I gave him a red 50 watt light,. left things the way they are or gave him a 20 watt light? Thanks.
