Do Box Turtles Claws Grow Back? Does anyone else have Malayan Boxies(pics)?

Dillon Jul 08, 2003 02:39 PM

I adopted a pretty sorry looking malayan box turtle from a friend of mine who didn't really want or take good care of her. She had her middle claw on her right foot fall off, will it grow back eventually?

Also does anyone have some good advice for sexing this species, I was told she was a female but would like to double check. And is there a place where I could get a Male malayan that is reliable?

Thanks in Advance,
Dillon

Claws get broken or shear off often in the wild. My Eastern male often loses his back claws when he's trying to mate with unwilling females and they close up on him. It takes a while but eventually, they return.
