During a visit to a local pet store I noticed a Ball Python for sale for $85 that was absolutely massive. I asked them what the sex was and they didn't know and assumed it was a male...they claimed to be selling it for someone who had to get rid of it because they had moved into an apartment that would not allow it. But they agreed to let me probe it...turned out to be a female. They even threw in a few mice since the day I bought her was her feeding day.
She weighs in at about 2500 grams, eats mice, is about as tame as can be (she let me open her mouth with out using any real force) and is either CBB or long term captive. I'll put some pictures of her up here after I take some...but I thought I would share this story for people who think you have to pay $400 for decent adult female. Don't forget to look around at your local stores, you never know what you might find.
The other bit of good news is I am finally having some luck switching my other adult female from hampsters to rats (previous owner thought hampsters were a good idea?). She just ate a large rat for me after I rolled it around in some hampster shavings that my local pet store donated to the cause.
