What time do you turn your lights on/off?

nez02 Mar 07, 2005 11:07 PM

I was wondering what time you turn your lights on and off? I know there supposed to be on for 12 hours a day.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Nez - How old is the cham? Babies need 12/12. Luna (almost 2 years) has lights on at 7:30 and off at 6:00 which I came up with over time by taking clues from her (like when she went to her sleep spot). If it is a baby 6:00/6:00, 7:00/7:00 would be fine. When I first got Luna she liked to stay up late so her lights went off at 9:00.

The thing to keep in mind is other light after the cage lights are out. I work in the room I have my critters in so I cover her cage with towels to block out any excess light, then uncover when I go to bed. You don't want to keep your baby up due to lights - espcially since he can' yell "Hey! Turn out the @#$%^ lights!" lol

Im not sure how old he is. I have a pic of him my other post. By 12/12 im guessing you ment on and off not from noon to midnight. If you want take a look that that pic and tell me how old you think he is.

Thanks

No, I meant 12 hours on, 12 hours off. Sorry, my abbreviation may have been confusing.

I just read your thread below - he is tiny! A reputable breeder would never sell such a young cham. There are so many things that can happen that are not necessarily anyone's fault but just nature. They really should not be sold younger than 3 months at a minimum. He looks good, but you will need to be diligent with his/her care

There are great articles on ChamNews and AdCham on babies

Thanks

Hi Nez,

The fact that you care is a good beginning

Have you posted your setup yet? Also, once you read those articles I am sure you will have specific questions so come back and ask. The ones on ChamNews are in a few places so if you go to their Article Reference page you will see several listed including feeding for babies, caging for babies, etc.

If you go to the KS Chameleon Help & Resource Info (linked in header above under articles) you will see the setup info that is needed. This way folks here can assess. I have never had babies so others' with more experience in one so young can give you better advice.
