It is possible to buy them as babies. There is Doug Dix up here in WA and he can ship them to you. His web site is www.deerfernfarms.com he also has just about everything you ever needed to know about caring for Uros on his site. I did not buy mine from him but he was very helpful when I first got Drake almost 2 yrs ago. Spent almost an hour on the phone answering all my questions. He has a real love for animals. I know there is a couple of other breeders but can't remember who they are but I am sure others will post them here for you. I would encourage you to go through a breeder and not pick one up in the pet store. I got my first Uro from a pet store and found out later due to a tick on his back that is not from this region that he was wild caught. Which is something I think is a no-no. I hope this helps and happy herping!

Hi there! Those babies are pretty cute aren't they??? I've have seen baby mali's readilt available in certain pets stores and their prices are not too outrageous. These are CB by a few breeders of mail's here in Michigan (I still have not found out who though....however, I'm not into mail's so never gave it too much of an effort).
I have not seen any other species at all, babies, juvies or adults in so-called pet stores. I do however not advise too many individuals purchasing them from stores. Luckily, the mali's I've seen are very healthy and plumb little ones. For babies ,get a hold of Lindsay Pike at www.urotopia.com. He'd be my first choice. A heck of a nice guy, not too mention his tremendous experience/knowledge with uros of numeruous species. He may also be able to direct you if he is out. Also, you resding in California, check under kingsnake's "Events" section for reptile shows in your area. Typcially, they have monthly shows all over.........
Good luck!!!
Greg
You won't find bitty babies at this time of year - they'll all be six months or so old. Uros don't breed all year round. Eggs are in the spring, babies in the summer. Try checking around in about August - there should be LOTS available then!

Not necessarily in that order.

Torey
Eugene, Oregon, USA
1.1 Uromastyx geyri (Joe and Arthur)
3.0 Uromastyx dispar maliensis (Tank, Turtle, and Spike)
1.0 Uromastyx ornata (Scuttlebutt)
1.2 Anolis carolinensis (Bowser, Leeloo, and Sprocket)
0.1 African dwarf frog (Sheila)
1.0 Betta splendens (Mr. Miagi)
1.1 Felis domesticus (Roscolux and Jenny)

Very ture regarding uros breeding patterns. There are some 3-4 months olds out there on the market, mainly mali's. It seems as if some captive breeders have prolonged the season into late august-september. Other species, however......people may have to wait as you highlighted Torey!!! Those other names are top notch as well! :0)
