Rescued little Leo!

eve_scotland Mar 08, 2005 08:45 AM

My local pet store isn't a very nice place to say the least (not as bad as ive heard of Petco though!) Most of the animals are cramped conditions and under nourished. They lately aquired a little Leo and ive since been in and out daily. Anyways the little juvenile was on sand, had no calcium, no heatmat and the "reptile room" is totally dark AND it's "home" was over run with live and dead crickets. Today i could stand it no longer and decided to take the little darling home with me! THANK GOODNESS I DID! When i got to the counter the store assistant advised me that they were not dealing in reptiles any longer and that they were going to release the Leo into the wild if no one bought him by the weekend!!! I live in Scotland UK it is -3 degrees - it would have been a goner!
Anyways here is a pic of my new Leo - it's 3 and half inches in length any idea of its age? And any idea of morph? I cant "sex" as of yet but i'm hoping that i have a female so that when it is old enough it can join my other 3.
(Her name - hoping it's a female- is Niobe)

Sorry the post is soooo long - just wanted 2 share!!!

Looks like it'd be more than 4 months old by the size and the color change.

Babies take a little while to start growing and also to start changing into the morphs they were born as (albino babies come out albino but patterns change, same with normal morph babies).

OMG. That is all I can say! Release him into the wild. O.M.G. Did you just want to reach over the counter and hurt her?!

Thank goodness you rescued him/her. And what a find too! She/he looks like a hypo carrot tail at least, possibly tang (hard to tell from the pic), possibly super hypo (too soon to tell). Good job! She/he looks like a sweety too.

I dont know why pet stores take on animals that they cant and worse wont look after! After the terrible conditions they had her in the had the cheek to give me a care sheet in order for ME to take good care of her!!! AaaarrrrGGGGhhhh!!!

That's terrible, planning on releasing the poor thing into that weather.. I'm glad you bought her when you did and I think she's lovely. Congrats on your little leo and like others said, she looks like a Super Hypo to me.. It's difficult to tell the exact amount of tang she has from the photo, but I think she's a great addition either way(Sad story too..). Take care.
