ANYONE EVER USED CAGES FROM CAGES BY DESIGN

SHHAWKE Mar 08, 2005 10:57 AM

AS I HAVE SAID BEFORE I BOUGHT ALOT OF CUSTOM MADE CAGES FROM THEM... MY LARGE DISPLAY TANK IS MAINTANING TEMP AND HUMIDITY REALLY WELL... HOWEVER MY CAGES THAT I HAD MADE ARE NOT MAINTANING EITHER ONE... THEY ARE GOING UP AND DOWN... THEY DONT SEEM TO HAVE A SPECIFIC TIME OF DAY THAT THEY DI IT... BUT I WAS WONDERING IF THIS IS COMMON IN THE CAGES FROM THEM...

MY CAGES WERE MADE TO HOLD GTP'S, AND I HAVE LOOKED THEM OVER AND I CANT SEE ANY REASON FOR THE TEMP TO CHANGE SO MUCH...

THE CAGES ARE ALL SEALED PLEXI WITH LARGE DOORS THAT SEAL WHEN CLOSED...

I KNOW A PIC MIGHT HELP, BUT THEIR IS NOTHING THAT I CAN SEE AS FAR AS A DIFFERENCE FROM MY OTHER DISPLAY CAGE...

ANY IDEAS???

I don't really know what the cages look like, but some things to consider:

1) Where are the cages located? Does hot or cold air blow on them at various times of the day? Say an open window or heater vent.

2) Is your heat source putting out consistant heat? Do you have any power fluctuations in your system? Do you have any timers that maybe activating or deactivating when you don't expect it?

3) Humidity and temperature can be tricky to measure. There is a lot of thermodynamics that go into it. Your fluctuations can be a combination of cooling/heating effects coupled with evaporation/condensation effects. Misting can bring temperatures down. Heating can reduce the 'relative' humidity. Cool sides can cause condensation, which will cause temperatures to rise slightly. And then, as the condesation evaporates, temperatures can fall again.

If your other cage is doing fine. I think the base of your problem is to figure out what is different about your custom cages. (Location? contruction? Shape? Ventilation?)

Good luck.

THE ROOM I HAVE THEM IN IS SEALED OFF... THE WINDOWS HAVE BEEN SEALED AND BLACKED OUT... THEIR ARE 2 SMALL HEATERS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ROOM... I DONT HAVE ANY TIMERS... I HAVE THE ROOM WIRED SO IF I TURN OUT THE ROOM LIGHT THAT THE DAY TIME LIGHTS GO OFF AND THE NIGHT HEATING LIGHTS COME ON...

I AM WONDERING IF THE WATER BOWLS ARE TOO BIG AND CAUSING CONDINSATION LIKE U SAID... I WILL CHECK WHEN I GET HOME AND LET YOU KNOW...

THANKS RIN
