Tortoise Dry Skin?

PrincessTortoise Mar 08, 2005 01:37 PM

I have a 1 year old female russian tortoise. Today I noticed that her skin is flaking off in certain places. Around her face, legs, and by the crease in her shell. What is causing this and how can I fix it? Help please!

Both of my torts shed there skin. Nothing to worry about. Do you soak the little guy regularly? I soak mine every other day. As long as he is getting regular soakings I'm sure he is fine. Good luck.

I don't soak her every other day, I soak her about once a week. Should I help by peeling off some of the dead skin or just let it be? thanks!

Sometimes I help peel off mine....if it is nice and loose. I don't think it would hurt any. And if your tort will be still! It should come off by itself eventually if you don't pull it off for him. I don't think it really bothers them. This is from my experience anyway. Good luck!
