Snapping turtle release

stittingham Jul 08, 2003 03:35 PM

Hi gang. I got two snapping turtles but one has to go and the one that is leaving has quite the personality. I am pretty confident that she would survive in the wild but would like to tag her or mark her that way if she is ever caught or found dead that I might be contacted and told about what happened. I am not going to release her yet I am trying to see if I can get the conservation department to adopt her she is every assertive of her surroundings and would be great for kids she would just follow them around in the tank but out of water she will snap at you like crazy "her personality" my other snapper is the best behaved thing in the world. But if any one has a suggestion on how I could either tag or mark her in some way that would be great to know if I cant find here a home in the captive world first. Thanks for the help. later eric.

The other good thing about tagging the animal is that your local wildlife authorities would know who to issue the citation to. Releasing your turtle is in liklihood illegal.
