Feeding question....

eunectes4 Mar 08, 2005 05:15 PM

Does anyone think a very large meal every other week or so would be a good choice for feeding ball pythons. I have no more small rats left so all my snakes that were eating small rats just got bumped up to pretty big medium rats. So my male pastel born early July is eating the same size rats as my year and a half old yellow anacondas and my yearling african rock. The rats seem to put a nice bulge on everything but I plan on feeding a little over every other week instead of normal just over a week feedings on these animals. I am actually expecting more growth this way than prior so I might even slow it down more than that depending on how long I see it taking to digest and leave a nice mess for me. Opinions welcome.

I have a female het that was born in june 04 and she is eating small rats no problem. As long as the rat is'nt to much bigger around than the biggest part of your snake. Ball pythons are very capable of eating big meals.
