Help! Need egg info.

CollardGuy Jul 08, 2003 03:52 PM

I found some ants crawling on one of my eggs today! Do they harm the eggs at all? Also, a couple of them are a small bit collapsed, how do I reverse this? Do they need more moisture? Less? They are all a great white color, but they are stuck together in a circle. Is it okay to separate them?

How long have the eggs been incubating. If they are at the 55 day mark or beyond I'd say that they are collapsing due to preparing to hatch. If they aren't anywhere near to hatch, I'd say you should increase the moisture.

As far as ants... I would change your substrate if possible, making sure that ants can't get to the eggs anymore. If there is a swarm of ants on the eggs I would imagine that at least one egg is probably bad and ruptured, luring the ants, but it is a pure guess on my part.
