VENOMOUS SNAKE HANDLERS??

Plamontagne May 16, 2003 12:03 PM

Hi everyone, my name is Patrick, I am 16 years old and I live Calgary, Alberta. I have been very interested in learning how to handel venomous snakes, I was just wondering if there is anyone living in the Calgary area who is ellit enough, and would like to teach me?

I have lots of non-venomous snake handeling experience, and I am confident that I could be very good at handeling the more dangerous species. If anyone is interested, please email me at: patricklamontagne@redeemer.ab.ca any replys would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Patrick

Patrick,
If you have no luck finding someone to help you out, you may want to call local zoos, wildlife centers, or pet shops to find a way to get some experience. While you look for someone to help you get experience, you may want to start handling aggressive and unpredictable species that will keep you on your toes. I have heard that bigs racers, coachwhips, and even aggressive cribos are good for this. If you have access to animals such as retics (little ones), african rocks (little ones), and water snakes that are real aggressive they will help you get used to the unpredictability of aggressive snakes. This is by no means a replacement for actual handling of hots but it may keep you busy why you find someone to help you out. My advice is to keep in mind that handling hots is 100% totally different than handling non-venomous. Hand off verse hands on.

Good Luck
