Hello,
Louisiana does not allow private ownership of Alligators as pets, or non commercial ownership either. To own them in LA you would need to have a LA Dept. Agriculture farmer or rancher license. You can also check Louisiana Gulf Coast Herpetological Society. www.lgchs.org for any ways that you can own them.

Im sure the laws in LA are similar to the laws in Florida.

In Florida you cant own a American Alligator either, but people still do, they do this by registering as a dealer or farm and pay the licensing fee's every year.

Im pretty sure you could do the same thing in LA to get your Alligator(s) ... its worth looking into anyway, if you are serious about getting them.

that hadn't even occurred to me,
but big thanks for the suggestion!
i will definitely look into that.
i know a school teacher who keeps them, as 'educational tools'.
wonder if i could become my own non-profit educational institution, spreading the joys of herping to the young people in my community?
hhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmm..........
