At one time or another both patternless and blizzards were (mistakenly)called leucistic. Neither patternless not blizzard are true leucistic by the genetic definition (which has to do with not having any melanine). As I understand it there is no leucistic leo yet. So if you see a leo labeled "Leucistic" at Petco the only thing you can really be sure of, is that it's NOT a leucistic. LOL.
Patternless and blizzards come in a range of hues and some of them overlap so sometimes it is hard for even an expert to tell visually which it is.

so, to sum up.
1) there is no leucistic leo

2) Patternless and blizzard are two completely different recessive genes. Even though some patternless and some blizzards look alike, genetically they are not. if you mate a patternless with a blizzard, you would get normals, well they would be double hets, but they would all look like normals with the yellow and all the black spots and everything.

that make sense?

You can easily distinguish a blizzard from a patternless when they are babies,
patternless have mottled patterns throughout their body as babies which dissapear as they age. Blizzards look like they have a bruised head as babies. Adults are harder to distinguish as leaftail explained but you can prove what morph they are through breeding.
