Yesterday I came home from a vacation over the weekend. While making my rounds and checking on all of my animals I noticed that one of my sinaloan milks was lying in the corner of her cage. Usually she is somewhat jumpy, but she has been notorious for bad sheds since the day I got her. I figured she was going through another one, so I promptly picked her up to make sure she was ok and to soak her. I noticed a large mound of brown "stuff" attached to her vent. I tried to remove it with no success. Soaking did not help the matter. I put her back in her cage and hoped she would dislodge whatever it was by the morning. She didnt. I promptly took her to the vet and discovered something disturbing. What I has assumed was feces was actually her intestines, which she had somehow managed to push out. I was devastated, sure I would have to put her down. Luckily, the vet informed me she would be ok and took her to the back, where he reinserted her intestines. I was elated that my baby would be ok. Unfortunately, as of about an hour ago, I checked in on her real quick, just to make sure she was ok, and found her dead. I am glad she is no longer suffering, but saddened by her death. I just wanted to post this to warn people that if you find something like this, please take your animal to the vet immediately. The longer you wait, the worse off they will be. Sorry for the long post.
