Albino Eyes

Kendergirl Mar 09, 2005 12:50 AM

I was at the store today picking up some worms and checking out the babies availible, and the CUTEST albino baby was there. As far as I could tell, it was a *normal* albino (don't know exactly which one, but guessing Tremper), but it had ruby red eyes. Is this unusual?

I thought that R.A.P.T.O.R.s and Blazing Blizzards were the only ones with ruby eyes. All of the normal albinos I've seen so far have grey eyes.

I don't have any albinos, and would love to scoop this guy up, but my hubby probably wouldn't like that. That little guy was SO adorable with his HUGE red eyes looking up at me.

These are my current cuties taking a nap together.

I have a regular albino and a giant albino but neither one of them have red eyes. If I was you I would have taken him wether my husband liked it or not, then again thats what I did with my beardies. If you're like me and you're the one that takes care of all the animals in the house then he has no room to complain as long as he doesn't have to take care of them because I take care of my husbands animals as well. My suggestion is to buy the little guy. If it was a girl I'd have you get her for me and I'd send you the money because I need a girl not another male. I don't really want another albino but I'd take it if it had red eyes. Then again I like anything thats unusual.

when some albinos are babies their eyes are much more "ruby" than when they become adults, it also fades, or gets darker if they darken up, i hatched out 2 light male albinos with bright red eyes, and then a male came out dark with dark normal looking eyes, but had red veins and red pupils, it varys

What state is this albino located in and how much?

I'd like to get it right now I've been waiting to get another leo. I'd like an albino with ruby eyes, I'm been looking at albinos but none have ruby eyes.

I could have sworn everytime I seen albino babies they have red eyes I have an albino hes about 5 months old and his eyes are like grey with red lines when the light is on but in the dark his eyes are nice and red i dont think thats unusual

I went back today to get another look. I don't think his eyes are totally red, because today they looked light tan. I think when I saw him yesterday his pupil was very dilated and was catching the light perfectly. All I saw yesterday was red. Just his/her pupil was red today. Still a VERY cute gecko….has a very kind look and is quite curious. I wish I knew if it was a female, because then I would get it for sure. As it is, I don’t have a clue because it‘s so young.

At any rate, the gecko is at Petco (I KNOW!) on sale for $20.00 in Orland Park IL. After all the bad talk about Petco, I wasn’t going to buy from them…but they get some great looking geckos every now and then. Two weeks ago I saw one that I was SURE was a snow, and he was gone the next day. I just wish there were more reptile specialist around here. There’s only one that I know of - and one adult gecko had a HORRIBLE shed and is now going through another, and the only baby they have has a broken tail.

I keep telling myself that feeding 3 geckos is hardly any different from feeding 2. LOL My husband is going to shoot me. If I had my way, I’d be taking home every other pet I see!

Petco only stocks Tremper albinos. Hatchlings start out with red eyes, but they lose the intensity of the redness as they mature, so it becomes kind of a pale pinkish gray with red lines. Some of the lighter-colored Trempers have slightly more pinker eyes.

Regarding the other albinos, Rainwaters have a darker grayish color with the red lines while Bells have a light yellow-goldish with stronger red lines. It ends up looking red in the pictures.

Here are some comparison pics (not the greatest, sorry!)
