Salmons, salmons salmons!

tigerlilie2 Mar 09, 2005 11:23 AM

Their taking over! LoL, just kidding...well sort of. I've noticed salmons are ALL over the classifieds and forums though. I always think about prices though. I bet the price will plummet in the next 2 years or so, because everyone out there is breeding them or has one. Shoot, even I have one . My question though is a simple one...maybe TOO simple. What differentiates salmons and hypos? They seem to vary a little as all salmons do, but some look pretty much the same as each other (hypos and salmons). Did they both originate from the same lines or animals?

Yes, they are from the same line, or rather matriarch.

Jeff Gee bred his and Rich Ihle bred his. Due to each of their differences in selective breeding we have the look of the Gee line Orange Tails or just plain Hypo, and the Ihle line salmons. You can breed them together, I know Rich does, as well as most, people just go for what they like nad try to get pretty boas.

Everything is progressing. Pastels .. monstertails.. gee line hypos.. everything is being upgraded as selective breeding progresses. The usefulness of the codominant/dominant hypo genes is a significant factor in so many scenarious. They are also, in my opinion at least, some of the most visually appealing boas out there. The trait is so variable and compoundable that they truly are being taken to the next level. Those factors combined are what has kept their value up in my opinion.

See Chris's post on Salmons / Orangetail hypo connection. I agree with what he said.
