Larry Keller Pastels

ChrisGilbert Mar 09, 2005 02:11 PM

Has anyone seen the one in the classifieds?

At least to me, looking at the clean back, and high contrast saddles, limited abberancy, and speckling on the sides it HIGHLY resemblem low pattern abberant Swedish Line Jungles.

Anyone who has his pastels, or seen them in person have any input to this?

That's funny Chris, I have just been thinking the same thing, but even a little more. I have been looking into alot of the Pastels-Harlequins-Jungles,lately and I think there is some new insight I have been gaining. That Jungle Russ posted is unique...is it not? Take care, Andy Federico

Just a little something I noticed. At least in regards to Larry Keller's animals.

The Harliquins do have abberancies, more similar to those found in hypos though. Of course being most have been bred to hypos this would obviously obscure the outcome.

Did not Jeff Ronne get his "electric shock" and pearlescent pattern mutations of of his pastels?

Seing as I do not work with any of these or jungles, I will have to look at pictures for my answers.

I have Larry Keller animals as well as a Harlequin and they have all been held by a breeder at 03 Daytona that helped begin the official JUNGLE line. Or at least a Huge part in producing the animals.

Upon inspection all of the animals, 2.2 Larry Keller AND the 1.0 Harlequin were said to have extremely similar traits being both color and pattern to the Swedish Line Jungles. In fact the statement was made that if on HIS table they would be sold for thousands Vs what I paid.

Now I plan on breeding the LK line back together this year and I am hoping for what others would call a Super Jungle or at least the same looks.

I can tell you that if there are others out there this year with LK animals and they do the same breeding this year, there maybe a huge Jungle argument before it is over. Will they be Jungles if they appear the same, no but a new name will be in order if they pass on the traits and they get better and cleaner when bred back together as the Jungles do.

Who knows.. maybe a black or purple will pop out.. wont that make for an active week here on KS.

As far as them not being as nice as the Jungle because they cost less is really not an issue... if it makes anyone feel any better I can raise the price on mine if I ever get any, babies that is.

Now that is what I call a good post. Something worth reading. Thanks for your honesty Shawn.

We purchased these in Daytona 03. We will be breeding them together this year. Speaking of Jungles, these are not of the Swedish line, but I have a feeling these have something special to show when bred back together.

See the other 3 we got here: 2.2 total

I know they are not Swedish Line jungles, besides they would cost A LOT more. They do look similar though.

Not going to get into the Jungle thing at all, but here is an 04 male I was lucky enough to get early on this past summer. I need to update him as this pic is a couple of months old now. He is just getting better every day and check out that red color and tail stripe! Thanx for looking!
