question on sulcatta diet

jojay327 Mar 09, 2005 02:45 PM

Thinking of trading in my hot snakes for a sulcatta(would make my wife very happy) the one we could get is about 10 inches, we live on about 10 acres in south Carolina so he would be very happy to get out of his cage at the store I am sure. I believe they are feeding him mazuri and store bought greens, what would be his perfect diet, please only stuff i can buy I don't grow much. The feed store by my house sells 50 pound bags of kaytee timothy hay(looks green like grass, not yellow like hay) would this be a staple diet, along with grass ect.ect. please give me an easy to follow list of ready to buy foods and I will continue my research as well, might get him friday. Thanks to all those that help. Jason

The diet you have listed is just fine for the life of a Sulcata. They are big on grazing but seem to be very opportunistic. On the hays, I'd recommend Bermuda or Orchard hay or grass clippings.
