Egg laying extravaganza! (possible dial-up warning.)

snakepimp Mar 09, 2005 05:16 PM

Okay, maybe 3 females laying in one day isn't a lot for Kathy and Don, and some of the rest of you, but it's exciting!

Here's an egg-laying sequence:

I also have an Amel het-for-lavender-motley who is laying today, but I am superstitious about photographing her....Here's the full-size pictures of my ghost corn laying some 2x-3x hets for lavender hypo and 50% possible amel. (they will be anerys...)

I tried to put my 03 male butter with my 02 amel female but no luck yet. She seemed receptive with a slight lift to her tail but he did not seem to show much interest. I hope he isn't too young. The size differential isn't too bad. My male 02 okeetee did fine last year with her.

How big is he? Males are generally fertile at a very young age. I hope it all works out for you. My colubrids have been sketchy this year for some reason. I normally don't worry about corns whatsoever, but they seem more skittish this year, maybe they smell the milk snakes I got this year, and they are thinking, "predator!" and reacting accordingly.
My favorite amel female, Chloe is egg-bound too, she laid 20 eggs on the 7th of March and I can feel more in there, but she isn't passing them. I soaked her in some water today hoping to lubricate her innards, and I will be squirting some glycerin solution up inside her tomorrow, and then it's on to pitocin and possibly aspiration.

My opal female just finished laying a lifetime first clutch of 11 fertile eggs, 14 total, but 3 were 3 obviously infertile.

So, thus far I have:

17 fertile from my Amel-het-snow x Snow
21-24 great looking big clutch from my Ghost x Lavender
11 fertile from my Opal x Lavender.
