fat tail over eating?

EBC Mar 09, 2005 05:56 PM

Hi, my fat tail that I have had since November is now so adapted to his new surroundings that I worry that he has become an over eater. His routine is every other day, I clear the furnishings from his cage to clean them, replace moss, etc. and while I do this, he eats. He seems to like it because he has plenty of room to run around and chase the crickets, tail wagging all the way. However, the last few weeks he has been eating around 10 large crickets every other day, and the last couple of times I've fed him I think he would have eaten more but I didn't have any more to give him! My question is, should he be allowed to eat however much he wants (the crickets are cheap so I don't care) or will lizards over eat? Thanks!!

Not sure this will help, but I have 2 males that eat 7-8 crickets every night. They've been eating like this for 8 months now and have only gotten larger. One is nine inches long. They aren't fat, but solid. If it's only eating like this every other day I wouldn't be too concerned.
