pete, did you ever see the pic of the five-lined skink I caught in my yard last year. Unfortunately it didn't survive but I still have the pics.

ginebig Mar 10, 2005 09:03 AM

A PINK SKINK!!! I never heard of such a thing LOL. Here's a pic of two of mine. Male in the back. Sorry it's a little fuzzy

toddbecker Mar 10, 2005 10:01 AM

Yeah I was pretty damned amazed to find an albino five-lined in my front yard last summer. I had thought about possibly breeding it to create hets but alas, I know very little about skinks. So far it was the find of my lifetime...lol Todd

ginebig Mar 10, 2005 10:14 AM

Guess I've been lucky so far. I've had these since early last summer and they seem to be holdin' their own for the winter. I'd like to get some young just to transplant in the yard and start my own little colony lol. I'm in Michigan BTW, where are you at?

CaptainHook2 Mar 10, 2005 10:20 AM

Where in MI? I currently am stationed in MD but will return soon to the lower half of the lower penisula. Originally from Ypsi!

I'm in a little town on the north end of the Saginaw Bay called Au Gres. It's about 20 miles south of Tawas. I grew up south of Fint, in Clarkston.

I see you're career military. Are you a Nam vet by any chance? Was a hunch I've had since I saw your first post. Just curious.

Quig

toddbecker Mar 10, 2005 11:25 AM

I am from Kalamazoo, but also am in the military and am curretnly in KY. Todd

CaptainHook2 Mar 10, 2005 11:33 AM

Maybe we can get together some summer. I can retire next year. I may stick it out to 22 so my kids can graduate from their current school. Once I move back home, I'll be there for good.

Well, I'm here for the rest of my natural life so I'm sure we can arrange something when the time comes.

huricanmj Mar 11, 2005 04:06 AM

Nice to hear from someone from Michigan. I lived in Grand Rapids for 10 years but finally got the sense to leave. Those winters are a beast!! Small world, huh?

ginebig Mar 11, 2005 05:36 AM

LOL yeah. you'd think at my age I would have moved south, not north! It's 15 degrees above as I write this :|

CaptainHook2 Mar 14, 2005 08:12 AM

Not quite, I was born in 68. This past summer I rode with my parents in Rolling Thunder 04. We visited the wall memorial and I was surprised. My dad found friends of his that he heard were missing but was not confirmed to his knowledge. Now he knows. He started crying and I was speechless. There is a special place in my heart for our veterans who have come under fire, those who lived and those who died. Most people in this country simply can't fathom the stress and sacrifice these men and women have made so we can sit here and [bleep] about the war. Not gonna get political. Take care!

Had ta ask. It was that George Orwell quote that got me thinkin'. Tell yer dad Hi for me, from one vet to another.

Quig

CaptainHook2 Mar 14, 2005 07:46 PM

Actually he was never in the military. He's been a teacher for over 30 years. I have a question for you though. We knew a guy he called Quig. You wouldn't have ever happened to know a Dziedzic would you? Grew up in Pennsylvania then moved to Dearborn with his family. Married my mom and moved to Ypsilanti. That would be wierd!

LOL, yup that would be wierd allright. The name doesn't ring a bell though. And I used to think Quigley was a pretty rare name.

Savvgawd Mar 10, 2005 03:34 PM

Where in MD are you located? I live in Monkton MD about 15 mintues from the PA boarder.

CaptainHook2 Mar 10, 2005 06:18 PM

I live in Clinton, right next to Andrews AFB. It's not quite the ghetto but we're trying!

I am a member of this forum to learn what I can from experienced keepers. So far I don't have any herps but all of you are scaring me. Obviously they are like potato chips, can't have just one.

ginebig Mar 12, 2005 08:21 AM
