Where should I place my humidity gauge at?

I try to put it somewhere that does not have extremes of temp or light. Not in the hottest area nor in the coolest. Not in the brightest light nor in the darkest. Hanging in the foliage of a plant is good, just not right on the soil. You will probably have to experiment with it.
