New Member: Neck Ringer?

Bulldawger Jul 08, 2003 05:32 PM

Hello, and nice to meet you all! I have access to nearly 30,000 ball pythons annually at my workplace, and get first pick of newly imported baby balls. This year I have ferreted out of this lot several regular ringers, and two ghosts. today while servicing in my room (which contains 11,000 pythons) I came across a snake with the "ringer" pattern on it's neck! I have only seen this is one other snake, which was a hold back from last year.
Of course, I purchased this snake, and I now wonder how unusual is this occurance? And, is it the same genetic trait(or non-genetic trait) as a regular tail ringer? The pattern on his neck is yhis neat colerless (black, white and grey)checkered spot on one side surounded by the characteristic orange, and it continues over the back onto the otherside with bright orange. I will try to post a picture if I can ever get my camera software operating correctly, but until then I would appreciate any insights or opinions on this little gem.
Also, if anyone's interested, I have marked out several simple morphs like banded, granite, blushing, hi-yellow, hi-gold, etc.

Thank you for your time,
Bulldawger

Sorry but my curiosity got the better of me but where do you work and what do you do to be around that many ball pythons?

Out of respect for my employer, I'd rather not state the company name, but we are a large scale producer of leopard geckos, colubrids, dragons, etc. and a supplier for pet shops throughout the country, and internationally. We are even starting a breeding program with the balls so that we don't have to import as many from Africa.
I personally am a "Room Captain" and am responsible for the well-being of 10,913 baby balls, all of which have to be fed and serviced weekly, so I've gotten to know most of them pretty well.
